    Who else is...

I started the pullup & pushup routine again last week, but other than that have mostly been getting my exercise out in the woods. Am headed to the hunting shack tomorrow & have a big ash tree laying across the river where we draw water. Cut, split, haul stack, etc. Got to get it done before...

    Stepping my game up

As always, check the regulations as they are subject to change. My specific tag in WY is for the GENERAL elk, and the particular unit I hunt does allow for the archery option in addition to rifle after you draw the tag. I have only hunted this unit with a type 6 tag, but will have the points...

It might be time to start working on those glutes. BC may have some good exercises for you, but remember that if you are going for size you will have to up the weight. Heavy Squats are an option, but you put a lot of stress on the knees.

    Stepping my game up

Most folks are limited as to how much time you can put into hunting out of state, but if you can, I would suggest that you explore hunting in Wyoming in the future years. WY is probably unique in that they allow you to draw a rifle tag and then can purchase a archery tag that covers the same...

    Harvest Data report

Without a mandatory harvest report, the data is just a "scientific wild ass guess" or SWAG. Better than a WAG maybe, but not much. Minnesota has a good system for deer, you just call in after the kill, and you are immediately given a harvest number to put on the carcass tag. I'm sure that...

I wouldn't be too discouraged on the small weight gain Marcus, you may well have nailed it as far as gaining muscle. The holidays always are a time of the year when I put on a few extra pounds, but I do manage to get back to normal within a month or so afterwards. Unless you are one of those...

    draw weight ??????????????????????

I have little experience and no expertise on this issue, but I remember reading an article that researched different hunting & military bows through history. Some of the military bows, such as the English long bow, and the Persian and Mongol laminated bows had very high draw weights, to the...

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

Not to minimize the situation at all, but it was just reported that so far in 2020 the overdose deaths in San Francisco have been three times the Covid/China virus deaths. It would be even higher if not for the 2,500 or so Narcan "saves".

    AK. Bound!

We'll just have to wait and see, but I expect Canada to be pretty aggressive about this and would almost bet on the vaccine requirement. I know of a band member of the Grand Portage reservation (on the US side) who has been unable to see his family on the Canada side for over 8 months).

GR8; You have to admit that Kids meme of the sign about anyone being president was funny. It doesn't have to be aimed at anyone and you can put anyone's face on it that you want.

My only real exercise yesterday was shoveling snow. I plowed for several hours after the first real snowfall of the year (8"). The truck plow works great on the driveway, but the decks and walkways get done the old fashioned way. I was wondering why I was so sore this morning.

Welcome Muley; Cutting and hand-splitting wood for my primary source of heat for 38 years was a big part of my exercise routine. I practiced and taught martial arts for many years, and that was similar to your boxing as far as exercise and fitness benefits. I no longer run, but a couple...

    AK. Bound!

Bill, at least you're headed in the right direction. I'm jealous, but deferred trying for an Alaska hunt this year due to my scheduled canoe trip in NW Territory in August. I can't even think about booking airline tickets yet until we find out if/when Canada opens up again.

    Primers

I haven't done much reloading thru the years. These primers came to me from an old lady who's son died. He had scads of guns and accessories. I had sold most of everything for her, but there was no interest in the primers at the time. I suppose the interest now is due to the general...

    Elk Rifle

Yup, the larders are almost completely bare unless you need a Nitro Express 600. I can sell some of my 30-06 Core-lokt...only $100 a box. On second thought, make that $200.

    Elk Rifle

My BIL used accubonds for elk, but did not shoot anything other than deer with it so far. I use my 338 for bull elk, and the Barnes bullets have planted five of them so far. The Tikka 30-06 is used for pronghorn, whitetail deer, mule deer, and cow elk. I just use Core-lokt (165 gr.)for local...
