responding to your message, forgot we've pm'd before. Was talking about NV elk for my dad... maybe some onX tips? and outfitters? I have it written down somewhere, but NV elk originally started out for me because i saw randy ulmer take a monster about 25 years ago....

It seems like 5.7-6.5 lbs rifles in a decent price point are available, and then probably a decent size scope, 16-20x max magnification. I was thinking like 7.5lbs finished but 7-8 lbs depending on options maybe.

Mostly want something very accurate in a mountain rifle. Was wanting a 1 rifle do it all. I did see weatherby loading a 156gr in the 6.5prc that looks pretty nice. That 7 Backcountry looks pretty wild too. Maybe I need a mtn rifle in 6.5prc and a do all in 7mm?

I think I saw Ron Spomer talk about a hunter back in the day taking a bunch of wild horses with the 220 swift, saying it was very lethal. the 22 creedmoor shooting 80gr I think would be fine on antelope, not sure about mule deer tho. I could see shooting a 280ai over a 300wby etc... I'm...

seems pretty similar to 6.5prc.... I think a .25prc might be more appealing... I don't know if/when weatherby will load the .257 with higher bc bullets and a faster twist barrel?

My dad's 72, doesn't really want to pay an outfitter to hunt an elk, but basically has 20pts in those 4 states, NV, CO, AZ, WY. Not sure this will be the best year for moisture? perhaps 1 state over the others? Also because he doesn't want to pay $9k for an outfitter, we may have to DIY it. But...

Checkout Walmart's best e bike.... biggest battery full suspension, about $500 I think, which IMO sounds much better than spending $3500+

I always thought instead of the nature conservancy.... kinda the same idea but allowing some hunting/hunters...

at this point, I could see... ...non-res could draw a premium tag and then charge someone else to "hunt along with them" ;);)

and not raise resident fees?? charging residents the same as non-residents would really increase revenue! $$$ -they would be able to issue less tags, which would in turn increase success rates, less hunters in the field at one time, -draw odds would actually increase, because less applicants.

I'm 44, my father is 70, 71 this fall. we pretty much both have the same amount of points.

Considering finally burning some mule deer points, probably have 10plus in every western state, max in WY, would ideally like an outfitter, but money is a bit tight atm, but would like to benefit from all the points saved up over th years. Anyone have any thoughts insight on the best diy mule...
