Wyoming Author C.J.Box novels about Wy Game Warden

I'm a big fan on of author C, J. Box who lives in Wyoming. His main subject is fictional Wy Game Warden Joe Pickett. I just finished reading his latest release BREAKING POINT. Was up till 2:00AM, just couldn't put it down. I've read all 13 and really enjoy them. I especially like them because he...

    Reloading, reloading and more reloading!!!

Been spending lots of time reloading in the last few weeks. Being a competition shooter, I go thru lots of ammo, literally hundreds of rounds a week, depending on how much I practice between shoots. My big shoot season is coming and once I get started with outside work after irrigation season...

    Nasty New Virus

Just got my computer back after having a really nasty new virus get into it. Have no idea where it came from. Its been called the FBI virus and none of the firewalls or protection programs can stop it. Really frustrating. Blocks your computer and asks for $300.00 from a credit card to unlock...

    My 30-06...What a pleasant surprise!

I was at the range yesterday testing some new loads for my 30-06. It really shot unbelievable! 3/4" groups at 100 yards. Not too bad for a 85 years old rifle! It is an 03 Springfield that my Grandfather got thru the NRA in 1950 for $10.00 (if I remember what he told me when he gave it to me)...

    Hunters and the NRA

The recent explosion of anti gun bills here in Colorado and an article in the Denver Post got me thinking ....bad thing to do! The DP's article basically said that hunters don't support and belong to the NRA. I know lots of the participants on this forum are bow hunters and might not have any...

    "Point Creep"

Just got my Colorado Outdoors annual Pref Point edition today. Started checking some of the units I am saving points for and damn if they all didn't require more points than the years before. The antelope unit I want to hunt needed 12 last year, looks like it will be at least 13 this year. Same...

    selling your shed horns???

Finally got everything fixed, took me about an hour of screwing around. These are actually mostly off stuff I've shot. I have a couple of boxes of sheds in my loft that I didn't get down. Problem with a lot of sheds is that if they arn't from the last season, most arn't worth squat. Too much...

    Garmin 650T-Anybody got one?

Got rid of my old (and I mean old) Garmin GPS and am considering a new one that I can load gps/topo maps via a chip instead of plugging in the unit to my computer. I am considering the new Montana 650T. Any one have one...if so how do you like it. I would also consider other GPS alternatives...

35 MM Film Cameras vs Digital Cameras

I have 2 35mm Konica Cameras with numerous lenses (wide angle, 75x250 zoom, 2x converter, filters) and used to take 100's of pictures evry trip I took. I have a couple of digitals now. No question about the ease of digital cameras and that is all I've used for a number of years. My question is...

    Hi Mountain Seasonings

Had some of my breakfast sausage this am, it was fantastic! I used their Prairie Sage seasoning along with a 60/40 mixture of antelope (60%) and pork shoulder roast. Used the course grind setup and then vacume packed it. Really came out great, not too spicy (according to my wife who is not into...

    Early Birthday Present

My birthday is next week and I casually mentioned to my wife that there was a book I would like if she was inclined to get me a gift. (We usually just exchange cards or do something special). I wanted "HUNTING THE AMERICAN WEST" by Richard Rattenbury. I saw it on the newsletter I get from the...

    Nosler Ballistic Tip Bullets

Just returned from an Antelope hunt in wyoming and am looking for anyone else who has used these bullets. They really shoot great on paper in my 25-06 and .257 Wby Mag, with the right load, less than minute of angle. In my .25-06 I used 100 grainers and in the Wby 115s. The bullets just exploded...

Interesting Session At The Range This AM

Just got back from the range, it was cloudy, rained a little and cool. I took out the .257 Wby and my sporterized 03 Springfield 30-06. I just added a new scope to the Springfield and wanted to sight it in. Scope is a Leupold VXIII 3.5 x 10 40 mm AO. Gun shoots really great. I tried something...
