    Minox HG binocular reviews anyone?

I had seen a couple sets of used Minox HG 8x43 BR binos on the web and wondered if anyone had tried them. At 22.9oz they would be easy to pack, and I like my cheaper Minox 8x42's as well as my 13x56's. Thought I'd see if anyone had tried them, there don't seem to be to many reviews online.

    low light test last night

Just figured I'd post our findings for anyone interested. Last night my hunting partner brought over his new Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 spotter and his 10x42 Leupold Gold Ring Binos. We set it up on a truck window mount, and had my Minox BL 13x56 BR binoculars, Vortex Viper 8x42's (non HD), and...

Want to trade my ED50 straight spotter body for an angled.

I bought a refurbished ED50 from Natchez shooters supply earlier this year when they had their sale. I really like the scope, but have found myself wishing I'd have went with the angled version. Mines in great shape only used it on the deck and from the truck window a couple times. I'd like...

Vortex Viper 30mm 4-16x50 rifle scope reviews?

I was wondering if anyone had tried one of these scopes. I have a 264WM that I use for flatter country hunts where weight isn't as much of an issue, and light gathering/long range ability is. I've always used Leupold scopes and had good luck with them. I bought a VX-R 4-12x40 CDS scope that I...

Looking at a Kimber 84L Montana in 280 ackley, anyone tried one?

I was looking at one of these for a mountain rifle due to the light weight and 280 ackley chambering, just curious if anyone had shot one or had any accuracy reviews. Thanks.

Looking for advice on Colorado GMU 41,42,421 for mule deer

I'm looking at trying to draw a tag for this area with a friend to hunt muleys this fall, probably 3rd season. We are both in pretty good physical condition, and not afraid to hunt hard or deep. We are considering backpacking in and hunting for 3 days, coming out for a day, and heading back...

Leupold 12-40 vs Nikon ED50 which is better, especially in low light?

I'm looking to upgrade my Leupold Sequoia spotter and wanted to get some opinions on what was best. I will pack it on western hunts for use on a tripod, and on some mid-west deer hunts also. It will also get lots of use on a window mount scouting whitetail in low light conditions. When...

looking at Vortex Viper 15x50 HD binos and Viper 20-60x80 HD spotter. Any reviews?

I just traded my Leupold Olympic 10x50 binos for Vortex 8x42HD binos with SWFA and am looking at getting another bigger set of binos and upgrading my Leupold 15-45 Sequoia spotter. After my muley hunt this fall looking through the guide's 15x Leica and Swaro binoculars I'm looking at getting a...

    Leupold gold ring 25x spotter

I was reading Mike Eastman's high country mule deer book and saw several references to this scope. I was wondering if anyone had one and how they compare to the newer glass like the Nikon ED50 for a light scope to take in a pack.

Do you pack anything for unplanned overnight stays when day hunting?

I was curious what others carried, if anything, to stay an unplanned night out while hunting the mountains. In addition to my regular hunting gear/spare clothes I've been packing a compression sack with these items in my daypack when I hunt the mountains. The sack & kit weighs 3lbs 7oz all...

Anyone tried new Eberlestock Gunrunner yet?

This looks like my ideal daypack. I've been asking eberlestock to make a light 1400cu pack for a couple years, and this is darn close to it. 1800cu and 3 1/2lbs. Just wondered if there were any reviews out yet. Thanks!

    Kifaru tipis

Anyone tried these? The price is high, but the reviews I have read have been really good. I have been thinking of buying one with the smallest wood stove, the Parastove, for backpack hunts. My hunts are usually later October or early November and having a wood stove for drying things and...

anyone using big bino's and tripod instead of spotting scope?

Just curious if anyone was using the big binos and how they liked them. I am not sure how well it would work, but it would be less to carry using my Bogpod with the switcheroo head and a set of 15x45 zeiss or similiar binos. The obvious problem would be less magnification. I am currently set...

If you were building an elk rifle, what would you make?

What would be your ideal rifle for hunting elk where both hikes and shots can be long? I am going to build one before fall of 2012 and with the waits from barrel companies I figured I should get that part started soon. Also this rifle will be expensive, so if I sell a couple other ones this...

    Eberlestock Just One J34 reviews?

I'm looking at getting one of these to haul 30-40lb loads in on backpack hunts, and hopefully much heavier loads coming out. I was wondering if anyone was using one, and if so how you like it? Thanks!
