I got lucky and did 2 different trips to sw alaska in 2025. The First one was a 11 day float trip for our 25th wedding anniversary.
We got dropped off on Pegati Lake and Floated the Kanetok to the village of Quinhagak. It was roughly 100 mile float.
Good times was had by both of us and we only had one real shitty weather day. The bush is just an incredible place. My wife loves to fish and i can't stand it. Needless to say she was fishing alot. Since i don't fish, i am a really bad netter, really bad.

That was in July, In september i went back for a moose and grizzly hunt. I did an outfitted hunt, and i have Known the outfitter for a few years or decades. This was the outfitters first season guiding moose in the area. He knows what i am capable of: so i told him to use me as a guienie pig and drop me off somewhere he has not been. It worked out pretty good.

That's a cool dark Grizzly! All but 1 of ours have been much lighter in color! Congrats on a great moose too!

Great trips Tim. Congrates on your success, and especially on the 25 year anniversary....it's good that you found a keeper.
Is that the Kifaru tent under the snow? I see that you went another way on your couples trip, but I have followed other trips of yours where at least my tent made it to Alaska, even if I didn't. Rick

Thank you, she is a keeper. That is a Kifaru sawtooth under there. I still have the 8 man, it is just a little big for solo trips. The sawtooth works pretty good as a solo taj maja. This last trip it was just easier to rent everything there. The bug gazebo was a good to have. The bugs in southwest alaska are bad. Bad enough i wore a head net to sleep one night, in the tent.

here is the 8 man in action on the Chilikondrotna in lake clark national park.
