I went with the 280 AI years ago, now I own a few. I occasionally hunt the west and its a one gun/cartridge does it all for me. I hunt antelope, deer and elk. I can speak highly about the cartridge, the rifles are a Rem 700 and a NULA 24 also great actions. My concern about the 28 Nosler is not the performance but the long term availability. We have seen so many cartridges come and go in the past 20 years and some struggle to be currently available. The 280 AI is no different really, but I'm still using brass that I fire-formed years ago. We are so susceptible to marketing we continuously try and reinvent the wonder cartridge. Do we really need 7mm rounds that fill a 100-150 fps gap created by the classics such as 7-08, 7x57,284, 280 rem, 280 AI, 7mm rsaum, 7mm rem mag, 7mm wtby and the host of others we may not but the rifle makers and ammo makers sure think we do ....
