    2021 Whitetail Success Thread!

Shot this buck on November 4th at 3:30 in the afternoon. Only my second day of hunting in Wisconsin. After being gone for 11 days elk hunting in Wyoming I didn’t push to hunt too much at home. Trying to keep the home front happy.

    How are preference points weighted?

My group of 5 is planning on applying for general elk in the regular drawing In 2021. We will have an average of 3.6 points. I see the draw odds were 100% with 3 points this year. Assuming point creep will continue as it slowly has in the general regular draw it will take <4 to have 100% draw...

    Elk units 86, 92, 94

I realize it won’t be easy, but we will be as prepared as we can. I know there will plenty of learning as we go, but you never learn if you don’t try. Does anyone know of any outfitters that will pack meat out in any of these units? This may sway some of decision making on the spots we decide...

    Elk units 86, 92, 94

Also, I will have 6 points by the time we apply, and others will have some points as well, but the group will most likely have to piggy back off of my points.

Thank you for the replies. Talking about pressure. If we were to archery hunt I would plan on the first or second week of the archery season. Is the pressure the same during the archery season?

    Elk units 86, 92, 94

I'm in the process of planning an elk hunt for myself and 4 other guys. Our total elk hunting experience is two elk hunts. One went with an outfitter rifle hunting in Colorado, and myself OTC DIY archery in Colorado. So not a lot of experience. I've narrowed my search to units 86, 92, and...

    1st WY mule deer

We made the trip even better by catching 4 rainbow trout and 1 brown trout. Biggest rainbow was 18 1/2”, and the brown was 18”.

    1st WY mule deer

Our season started yesterday, October 15th, in Wyoming. My Dad has only mule hunted once back in the 70?s, and this was my first experience ever hunting for mule deer. My Dad is 71, and this will be his last time most likely to take a hunting trip like this. We left Wisconsin Saturday morning...

    Wyoming roads salt/sand?

My hunt starts in region E tomorrow. Trying to get to Jeffrey City today to scout and be ready to hunt in the morning. Right now we?re stuck in Cheyenne. We got caught in the blizzard last night. I-80 is closed and I-25 doesn?t look good. Do they put salt out the interstates in Wyoming? We?re...

Gloves and knee pads for mule deer hunting

My dad and I will be mule deer hunting in October with region E tags. We will be concentrating on units 96 and 97. Will it be in our best interest to have leather gloves and knee pads for stalking in these units? I have spots in both lower and higher elevation areas picked out to hunt. Of...

Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50 scope V-Plex Reticle

I?m looking for a scope for a Ruger American Rifle in 7mm-08 that I bought not too long ago. Cabelas has the one I mentioned in the thread title on sale for $150 right now. I?m not real knowledgeable on this stuff. Can anyone give me there thoughts if this would be a good set up? This is in a...
