    2017 success

2 tags filled so far with my muzzleloader, both in CO. Mountain goat on Sept 5 and antelope on Sept 29. Using a 50cal Hawken I made from a kit way back when I was in high school.

    DIY Euro Mount!

I shot this guy on Saturday morning and boiled it today.... and this is how it came out without having to do the peroxide step! I boiled the skull with Borax, Oxiclean, and Dawn (I used a big washtub so it took a long time to bring it to a boil, and then did a low boil for about an hour). I...

    Elk Success Thread!

Got this guy opening morning of CO 2nd season in unit 6. Spent today boiling the skull for a european mount. I tried a new method this year using Oxiclean and Borax, and this is how it came out (this is without any bleach or peroxide).

Whitetail around Colo Springs or Pueblo - West of I-25?

Has anyone seen whitetail around Colorado Springs to Pueblo on the WEST side of I-25? (i.e. units 59 or 84). Any information would be appreciated. There are some new whitetail-only tags in those units this year, and I still need to get a Colorado whitetail for my bucket list. Thanks!

Northwest Colorado Antelope and lesson learned

I feel your pain. With 6 pref points I drew a Unit 87 (Pawnee Grasslands) this year. After a lot of scouting on Wednesday I found a handful of decent bucks that I wanted to target on opening Day (Oct 5). On Saturday the wind was howling and I blew an early stalk and one missed shot. The rest...

    Best muzzleloader bullet for elk

Giving my input to the original subject, I shot a bull moose and a cow elk last year with my TC 50cal Hawken using 100gr Triple 7 and 460gr No Excuses slugs. The No Excuses slugs are about the largest you can shoot here in CO with a 50 cal (length cannot exceed twice the diameter, and no...
