Yes.
...Section 21. Drawing Advantage.
....(vii) For the purpose of retaining nonresident antelope, elk or deer preference points in this Section, any sportsperson failing to purchase a preference point within two (2) consecutive calendar years shall lose all accumulated preference points for that species and shall be considered as a first year applicant for any subsequent calendar year in which the applicant submits an application for a license.
(viii) For the purpose of retaining bighorn sheep and moose preference points in this Section, any sportsperson whose residency status changes and who has accumulated preference points will retain those points as long as the sportsperson applies for a license for that particular species within two (2) consecutive calendar years. Failing to apply for a license or preference point within two (2) consecutive calendar years, the sportsperson shall lose all accumulated preference points for that particular species.

Thanks mntnguide. Are there a maximum amount of points one can accumulate and does the two year rule still apply?

Im not sure exactly what you mean....some Non-residents on the forum here will know what the max are for each specie I'm sure...Elk is somewhere around 8ish+- since it was instated...You can only buy one preference point per year if thats what you mean? Basically, unless you have max points now, you won't be at max points for at least a decade if ever. Start accumulating if you want to hunt premium units or even if you want to hunt general...points help drastically.

There is no max that you can accumulate, its the max you could have accumulated so far since the WY points system was started so unless you got a point every year since the system was started and have not used them you could not have max points.

2014 is the 9th year since NR points were established. So if you applied every year and did not get drawn, the max points you can have after the draw this year or after buying points this year would be 9. This is for elk, deer & antelope.
