Nevada sheep MRS: "Traditionally, Nevada has allowed applicants to apply for and accrue bonus points for all three subspecies simultaneously, however, this has changed and the new bonus point system is only good for one of the three subspecies."

What happens to the points everyone has been paying app fees for up until now? What happens to mountain goat points since there are no NR tags now? Not that I have alot for either one, just wondering.

I think I read somewhere in the book, maybe about getting rid of points on deprecation hunts, that those who have points will not loose them or acquire new ones. So eventually everybody will have zero. I imagine it would be something similar.

I had a guy tell me that once he got to 10 points they reset back to zero!? I don't believe that is correct. I told him to call FnG and find out what the deal is. I asked him if he had not applied for tags or bought points in two consecutive years and he didn't THINK so. I bet that's what happen.

I heard about the points for depredation hunts too and that makes sense. Im just wondering what will happen with goats and sheep. There are LOTS of applicants with well over 10 points so I dont believe they go back to 0 either without drawing or not applying and them expiring.

How big is the quota? Is there public land with elk a NR could have a good hunt on or do you think the quota will be filled the first hour of the hunt?

The quota varies by region. The panhandle allows 60. SW is 20. Not sure of the exact numbers but I think its going to cater to big ranches and guide services. Public land options are as always extremely limited and I would expect the quota to be filled very quickly as was the case with our first bear season a few years ago. We killed twice the quota before noon on the first day!
