This Fall I was lucky enough to shot a 130in whitetail on the second day of archery season sept. 29th. I decided to get it mounted cause its my nicest whitetail with a bow in 10 years of archery hunting. Today the taxidermist called back and said its ready. Is this too fast? should I be worried about quality?

It's possible to get it done in a month if he isn't working on anything else. The only way you're gonna know for sure is to go look. To be sure you should have looked at some of his finished mounts before you committed. Every reputable taxidermist has some display mounts.

My taxi got mine done in a month also, but he pretty much just does deer and bear so he gets stuff done pretty quickly and looks great. Takes a little longer for rifle kills because he gets a lot more he always has all his deer done by may 1st rifle and bow. So yes it is possible. Have you ever seen his work?

I have seen his work before and he does a great job. Both my Dad and Brother have had mounts done by him. my brothers was an elk shot on oct 1st and wasn't done till feb. so that's more what I expected. picked it up this afternoon and it looks good. I asked about the fast turn. He said he doesn't really like doing elk so he bangs out his early archery deer first. also mentioned mine was the first SD archery deer he got so that's part of it too.

Tans in house possibly?
That is what I was thinking or possibly the tannery is close by. I know my taxi lives just down the street from the tannery he uses and top that off with him being their biggest customer they turn his deer capes in about a week and a half. When I dropped my buck off this year right after the opener of rifle he said he would have it back in 1-1/2-2 months.
