What the heck! 25% less deer tags this year! Damit now the odds are even less to draw. I hope I draw in another state so I can hunt this year in a good area or I guess back to the old Idaho over the counter.
I guess the $600,000 in less revenue for the decrease in tags wont hurt Nv. But man that kinda puts some perspective on the money theses states bring in on hunting each year.

Be glad that your state cares more about the quality of the herd than $$$. Maintaining a healthy population with quality animals is more important than draw odds. We as hunters can tend to get selfish but you gotta look at the bigger picture here.

Here in Nevada our quality has been declining. I am glad they did this. They should double the fees also so they can weed out people that aren't serious about hunting. Just my thoughts. I would pay double. It would help with draw odds as well.

I am glad they are doing it if it will improve the quality. For me, they picked a good year for it because I already have 2 tags in my pocket. That is enough. In NV I applied for all low draw odds hunts anyway so I didn't expect anything.

They should double the fees also so they can weed out people that aren't serious about hunting.

If they did this there would be more people in the backcountry and more animals would be killed. The more road hunters and not so serious guys, the better.

I Absulutely agree with all. I also only put in for high quality areas and have also watched the decline in trophys in the last 3 years. I think in my fav spot is on the up swing. With all the water this year I hope to get a tag and pack out a monster.
Nev does a great job of managing for quality. I'm sure it's for the greater good.

The commission voted to reduce tags by 25% of the PROPOSED quota, which was higher than last years quota. It will be closer to 10%-15% less than last year. With buck to doe ratios as high as they are in Nevada, saving a few more bucks isn't going to grow the herds any. As far as doubling the fees, Thats crazy talk!

How in the heck do you cut Non-resident deer tags, when most area only have 1 or 2 permits as it is. Like I've said hopefully I'll draw with 11 non-resident points, and get off this train.

All the deer hunts have at least 2 tags, most of them are the archery and muzzleloader seasons. The rifle hunts are going to take the biggest hits.
