I shot this one a few weeks ago. When your out in the field this fall, make sure you have a cougar tag. You just never know when you might come across one.

Last one I saw was in a ranchers field, it looked like an over grown house cat looking for mice. Good job taking him out Springer.

How come I never hear this same thing said about poachers? We'd miss em if these cats weren't around for hunting... At least I know I would.

Edit to my post. I didn't realize they didn't allow hunting for lion in California. Not to surprised given it is home to Hollywood. Congrats on the cat.

The way the loonies in California are going, in about 8/10 years there won't be any hunting for anything.

The California cat population is completely out of control.
I have seen them on the road and friends see them. We saw two different sets of fresh tracks on the place we hunt deer. A trapper was called into an area that a cat had killed a bunch of sheep. He caught six cats in two weeks.
California needs to manage the population. They are killing pets in urban areas. Lots of peopele practice SSS but not enough.

I'm with you on Cali being blind to the cat problem, I'm within a mile of the Cali border and run hounds for lion and bear. Used to run bear in Cali until that was shut down last year. Its only going to increase the population over on my side of the sierras and we get 2 lion tags a year. We just got bear hunting and its going good, hopefully we start seeing more tags due to the Cali infestation. Lions are #2 on my list, bow hunting mulies is #1.
