The reason I am entertaining the idea on going to the "new" spot is because my first deer I killed, I never set foot in that area until opening day. And I killed this big joker:



I have always had better luck just popping into a new area. I have hunted this new area a little bit. Lucky couldn't be found last rifle season and that are was flooded. Word got out about him also. Every hunter I talked to was chasing a buck like this in the same couple canyons, ridges etc. so I don't know for sure if lucky is still lucky.

It's hard convincing my parents to go 6 hours 1 way to scout. And they surely won't let me go alone. Good news is I know the area. Just am not sure how to approach it in terms of stalking. They hide in the aspen stands and don't know how some approach that situation. So I will create a thread for that.

Yes and my grandpa was working a gas station as a teenager and the guys who killed it came through and showed it to him then mailed him pics!!

Need to have a serious talk with whoever is in charge of planning hot august nights. Who in there right mind would have it on opening weekend of any season! Imagine how bit a forkie would really have to be to score 342! lol

ok, slight change in plans, moved hunt up from last two weeks of August to the 1st two weeks of the season. Sent an email out to the office staff ( I will be out of the office from mid day on the 9th of August and will be back in the office on August the 26th.) Ready for some spot and stalk action on some " fuzzy antlered" muledeer.

It's torture! I shot my bow in Ely and felt confident. If I can just fix my 3rd axis and tune my Broadheads to the bow I am set. I shouldn't have to make any adjustments.
