Blinds

I will be hunting archery antelope and am headed up this weekend to set up my blind on a water hole. This is my third NV archery lope tag, the last two I have been in spots that had a lot of natural cover so all I had to do was dig down a couple feet behind the sagebrush and I was good. This hole however, doesn't have the cover and I will plan on building a blind. My plan is to dig down a few feet then use fencing, burlap, plywood, sagebrush, etc (just a one man shack blind, I've seen them out there many times). I will do the usual and leave a note with the dates I am hunting and my contact info. It is a pretty well known hole for the area so I need to get out there early to claim it and, fingers crossed, nobody messes with it (I will be out every few weeks to scout and check on it).

Long story short, I was talking to a buddy and he is trying to tell me that there are restrictions on man made blinds and I should call a biologist to check, I left a message for one yesterday and have yet to hear back. I am 99% sure there is nothing I need to worry about but I just want to make sure the blind doesn't get torn down by a warden passing through because of some restriction I don't know about.

Thanks for the input.

Idk about man made blinds but I had some @$$ hole put his blind next to mine last year. And then camped a 1/2 mile down the road and had a dog! Setting one up will be helpful but be careful, some people don't care.

I am pretty sure though there isn't any issues with blinds. I know of a buddy who is a bio in Nevada make a man made blind and left up.

We had problems a couple years back when blm said it was a permanent structure in a "wilderness" area when it was definitly not in it and threatened to tear it down. Other than that you should be fine.
And honestly I wouldn't waste your time digging a hole for your blind. We've had blinds that were like 8x6 and 5 feet tall and the antelope get used to it by season time as long as you get it put up early enough.

Oh and btw what area do you have?
015, I had the same tag two years ago but by the time I stumbled on this hole it was already claimed. The guy who was on it ended up with a real bruiser. I'm headed up this weekend so hopefully I'm early enough. If not I know some other good spots, many years chasin chukar up there has made me really familiar with the area. Thanks for your guys' advice!

Very cool. I've come acrossed a few signs before hunting in that area. Does it really work or bring the guys in? Myself if I see a sign and know for sure someone beat me to that spot I move on. I get soooooo pissed off when guys will walk rite up to your set up just cause they think they have the rite to be there. I see it as first come first serve and if I get there late that's my own fault. I always have a back up plan. Good luck! Post pics

Good stuff, it's a great area, good amount of water and the area is definitely big enough to spread people out. I havn't been up there since the southern portion burned last fall, will be interesting to see if that pushes more people north. Good luck with your dad's, I am pretty set on where I am hunting but if you guys want any info on the area shoot me a PM.

Nv bird. That unit is crazy for archery season. I've been told if you don't claim your water hole in the first 24 hours of results being posted, you will have to wait until second week of season and sit on one after the early bird has killed his buck.

My dad drew that unit for rifle as a non resident with 2 points! He's always the lucky one.

Oh I know, I am nervous I didn't make it out there last weekend but I've got backup backup and more backup plans. Archery deer starts a week after this one so obviously I'd like to be done by then. Hopefully luck is on my side this season.

Thanks but it looks like he wants to turn it in. My bro and I drew archery goat for the same unit again. 2 years for him and my 3rd year drawing the same unit. This should be my year! Lol
