Well, I received a few emails and my mounts from this past June's African trip are ready to be shipped. But due to shutdowns in the permitting process in South Africa it may be around the middle of January before they are processed, so I might be able to expect them sometime in February.

Here is a picture of the shoulder mounts. It isn't that good but at lest you can see them. I also have 5 or so euro's coming.

They have cull hunts just for warthogs for a real good price.

The farmers land where I shot mine hated them. They do a lot of damage if they are in a sandy area from there rooting around.

It took my Dad a long to get his mounts back and then it was a HUGE battle to get them out of customs in the US.

Still waiting. My importer tries to get a bulk shipment from Africa here to the US to try and save money. But I'm getting a little anxious.

US Customs can be a pain. All the paperwork needs to be correct, miss dotting a I or crossing a T and you are in trouble. Then there is the problem if any of the animals are on the Cites list that includes even more paperwork.

Even in Africa the fun is done after you pull the trigger.

They look great. Not sure why but the warthog looks really cool to me, maybe its all the tusk's? I am excited to see the euro mounts when you get those back.

Warthogs are classic little animals and were my primary animal on this safari. On my first safari I would run into them but the areas that I was hunting didn't have them with good tusk since the ground that they dug their dens in was quite rocky.

On my first day this trip I missed one at 100 yards where I was using a fence post as a rest, I have no idea how I missed him but I did. The one that I got just made the mistake of stopping while in some brush at 30 yards. He was a tank of a warthog and close to 300 lbs, it took the three of us to get him up and into the back of the truck.

If you haven't read my report on the hunt it is down in the Other MRS

If you have ever been to Africa you know what that means LOL. First trip on Ethiopia Air our guide told us "As soon as you step on that plane, just remember you are in Africa and on Africa time!"

Well after much anticipation and watching tracking numbers as my crate left Alacedale, Eastern Cape South Africa along with the wait as they cleared customs and the USFW in New York my crate arrived in Denver yesterday morning.

I just received a call from Jennifer with the freight company and they will be in my driveway on Wednesday between 11am and 3pm. I'll then be like a kid at Christmas as I open the crate. I have my cordless drill with a screwdriver bit at the ready along with a couple of spare batteries just encase one dies on me.

Let the countdown begin.

The crate is sitting in my garage and the unpacking has begun. I have a couple of pictures but with all the bubble wrap inside there is no sense to take any until I get them out of the crate.
