Good luck on the hunt.

I struck out during the HAM season but had 3 good chances at them. I blew all three and it wasn't the firearm either.

Last weeks rain storms should help a lot. The desert started to green up real fast and they refilled the water holes out there.

2018 AZ Jav

After a long and fun week in AZ I was able to connect with a nice boar. My hunting buddies and I all tagged out on the last day of the season.

Got on a couple of herds early on but could not seal the deal.

We battled high winds and snow towards the end of the week, but I believe that's what got them moving around on that last day.

Pictured below is the jav I took using my Marlin 336.

Nice looking javelina.

I have found that the more that you hunt them the easier it is to find them.

Good job.

Dudes! What is up with AZ javelina tags! Ive been wanting to get a non resident tag for one in either unit 10 or 34A, but it seems impossible to grt one! The otc is only valid in a handful of units too? Can anyone explain, i thought it was easy to get tags for these guys!

They are all draw. The guide book is on their web site right now with paper applications being accepted with online application to start this or next week.

What do you want to hunt them with? Archery runs almost the whole month of January, HAM (handgun, archery, muzzle loader) runs for 10 days starting 2/8 and then comes the rifle season that runs 10 days. I have been hunting the HAM season now for 25 years. One year we screwed up and had to get leftover tags but it was no problem.

I am not sure on those two units but you can go to their statistics page and see what it takes to draw a tag in them.

Unit 10 always has leftover archery tags & you can hunt multiple units with it. The regs are out for spring just go to fish & game website.

I have seen a number of people that have tried to mess with that puss filled scent gland and end up with it all over the place.

As you said just pull the skin off and it will come off and you will never even see it, that is unless you are a glutton for punishment and go digging for it.
