So let me get this straight...some FIFO had him as a hunting dog until he was too old to hunt, and then gave him away??

I get the rest of the story, but I'm trying to figure out what kind of person gives away their old hunting dog....

I guess its the same kind of people who get rid of the greyhounds when they are done with them.

I know a couple of bird hunters that do this. They get their dog for the sole purpose to hut birds. Then once the dog can not hunt anymore they find them a great home to go to for the rest of their lives. One of the hunters told me that he can afford one dog but not two and that is one of the big reasons that he does it.

not so for all but for some dogs (and kids for that matter ) are nothing but tools.

don't get offended. doesn't mean they don't take good care of their tools.
