So I just caught that I may have choked on one of my choices yesterday. I chose an archery code and just discovered that you must purchase an archery license beforehand. I didn't do this so is the entire application voided or is just the archery choice voided or none of those happen? I'm going to try calling on deadline day tomorrow but figured I would ask on here just in case a seasoned vet has first hand knowledge. Can't believe the application went through without it.

Just a heads up. I was able to get ahold of someone on the phone and she stated that if you go through the application process and forget to buy the archery license not to worry. You are allowed go back and buy that. The ALS# will attach the license to your application. Anyways I just wanted to pass that on. She said there were several people that missed that and she said Montana FWP will be changing up the literature the next go round to clear up the confusion.

Droptine if you are thinking of a deer tag stay on top of it . last year when the surplus tags came out they sold out in a matter of hours.
Less than five hours for about 500 tags compared to the nearly 2000 deer tags lasting until July in 2015.
As other states like WY raise prices the MT tags are relatively less expensive and may see higher demand. With moving to north ID I like the idea of being able to get a deer and elk tag every year for another state that is 1hr away for about $1000. I think the general MT deer/elk tag is a decent value at $1000-$1100. In 2018 a special WY elk will be more $$ and no deer tag included for that $$$.
There's point creep and there's price creep.
I pay only $306 for a NR Montana deer tag, fishing, upland bird, and base license...even that's a questionable "value" for the product that Montana produces these days.
If my Dad, Brother, and 2 nephews didn't still live there, I would probably opt out of hunting deer in Montana.
