Colorado Big Game Regulation on Line now.

So I called and talked to one of the hunt planner folks today. The gentleman I talked to confirmed that nonresident moose/sheep/goat apps will be online and paid by credit card. I assumed this was going to be the case, but thought it was worth a call. Now to figure out how this will change app numbers and drawing odds.

I doubt that it will affect the draws any if at all. You still have to have the money up front to be eligible for the draw.

Now if it was like Utah's where you don't have to pay until after you draw the tag then application numbers would go way up.

That's true and I guess that if you don't pay off your CC every month and don't mind paying the interest rate that they are charging it's alright. Also depending on when they charge your card you might have a couple of months to pay it, but still the payment is up front and not in 3 or 4 months.

I guess it is all how you look at a credit card and when you pay it.

What would be the difference in writing a check or paying with a CC that you should pay next month? Parks and Wildlife will still sit on your money for a few months before the refund it to you. And I would be willing to bet that those that pay with a CC and don't pay it off will spend the refund check and keep incurring interest on their CC for the tag amount.

I don't disagree with you philosophically, but I know my odds of drawing will get worse.

Writing a check means you have to actually have the money in the bank. Using a CC lets you basically borrow the money and only pay the interest then pay it off with the refunds. A lot of guys who apply in multiple states do it this way. Hunting application services like Huntin Fool & others actually encourage this type of applying. You can get interest free CC too so you don't even pay interest. My guess is you will see a big jump in non resident applications for all trophy species (Moose, Sheep & Goat) once this starts.
