Camp fire or not in the back country?

It certainly wouldn't have hurt you where I was at this year. It smelled like smoke every single day.

Best bear to date was when the Gila smoke came into the valley. Thoughts were it was going to ruin everything. Bear paid no attention to the heavy smoke. Besides, a camp fire is part of the experience. I like onions too

we where successful on a dall sheep hunt. we had not had any fires. but the last night. we made a fire and I cut up the front shoulder. roasting sheep meat on a stick over a fire. pretty hard to beat. powdered terrayaki works well for a marinade.

thanks for the insight, I enjoy the comfort of the fire but would be willing to give it up if you all thought it would hinder a back country hunt.
