Yeah, you can save alot of money on flat work as long as you know what you are doing. The neighborhood that I built my house in required a stamped concrete sidewalk to be installed as well as a 10' driveway apron. I had a corner lot which so had to pour a 380' foot by 4' sidewalk, quotes were around the $20,000 mark. Me and my father in law did it for about $4000.Oh, my wife is a pretty content lady. She is really happy that its done, how it turned out, and the biggest thing that we did it for a little under 2k, we were quoted 12k by a contractor. We saved a little money to put somewhere else, maybe hunting
I did not, well I kind of did. I just bull floated it as smooth as I could, once it dried for 30 days I took some stone sanding wheels that attach to a hand grinder and spent maybe 20 minutes catching just a few high spots, then put on a rough wheel to get the smooth spots a little texture so when you walk on it it's not rough, but just a little rough so you don't slip when wet. Cleaned it with a de-greaser, applied the etch, and let it dry then stained, and put a matte sealer on it once it dried.
