i went and scouted hard for two weekends in 16c for deer and saw nothing but elk. anyone have the same experience or have some tips. i can hunt all of 16 so it doesn't necessarily have to be 16c. any help will be appreciated.

Get in Juniper and transition type country where You can glass. Very few in the pines with the Elk.and You will see some Elk in the Junipers too..............BOB!

Agree, the few deer I saw on my 16 D hunt a few years back were all within 1 mile of where the forest broke out into the plains on the western edge.
