Narrowing down my gun research:

What are the thoughts on the Browning X-Bolt Long Range Hunter (synthetic/stainless)? I'm leaning toward purchasing this rifle in a 7mag and wanted to hear of any points, good or bad, concerning this rifle. I think it has a good 'feel' and I like the look of it as well.

Thanks guys!

I have several A-bolts and love them but do not have the X Bolt. Have a friend who has one and he loves his , it's 300. WSM . I like your caliber choice. ( 7mag.)

The x-bolts fit me really well. I like the non slip coating they have on the stock. I really like the tang safety as well.

I handled that rifle last weekend when I was looking at the T3. . It fit nicely and felt balanced. Thats about all I have.

If it shoots as good as my A-bolts, there is nothing not to like. One of my A-bolts is 7mag. HSM ammo with 168 Berger leaves at 3067fps with light feeling recoil. I love the detachable clip. I have a Savage and several Remington 700, the A-bolt is my go to.

I dont like that plastic magazine they have....

I have the Browning A-Bolt SS Stalker with boss and while it is extremely loud (I mean deafening loud btw...), It is super accurate and very powerfull. Only killed a few deer and a hog with it in the 15 years I have owned it. Everything I shot with it died quickly.

Your dead on ! deafening is putting it mild. My buddy has one in the .270 just as you described and he loves it.

My friend researched a new rifle at length, he settled on an X-bolt in 30-06, it was shockingly accurate. Better than average I suspect. Only one I have handled, I liked it. Was not bothered by the magazine, but am used to polymer magazines in my Tikka and AK's and the like. Both my A-bolts are plenty accurate as well.

Thanks for all the replies thus far. I'm leaning toward a purchase. It in long range hunter model. Comes with removable break. Be nice to practice with break, but I'd hunt without. Should be mildly recoiling rifle. 7MM weight is 7.5 lb before ammo/scope/bipod

I own a Browning Stainless Stalker X-Bolt in 270WSM and it is serving me well. It fits me perfectly, the Duratouch finish on the synthetic stock is great and accuracy is superb. The polymer magazine is rotary so a cartridge is in direct alignment with the bolt and chamber and feeds very smoothly. It also comes with a target crown. I have experienced no faults with mine over the three years I've had it and it has put deer, antelope and elk on the ground.

I like my browning x bolt, but I would definitely get it in a synthetic just like you are. I have a laminate stock on mine and it's now cracked and I was having a hard time trying to find a aftermarket replacement for it. However McMillian is now starting to carry stocks for the x bolt and will continue to add different styles in the coming years. They are releasing a gun this year with their stock and it's probably one worth checking out
