Just finished up painting this .17 HMR last night. Wish I had before pics, but it was just a blued/ walnut plain Jane model.

Looks great BSA. Now that you have shown off your work, you have set high standards, we expect nothing less now. Btw, I'll be honest, my attention shifted to that magazine pretty darn quickly. I don't know which looks better, that wicked paint job or that blonde.

Exactly Bitterroot! LOL

I just used paint for the barreled action, and it turned out really nice. Not sure how the durability will be though. When I go to do a "big boy" gun I will definitely use Dura or Cerakote. I'd like to experiment with some of that stuff. Thinking about doing my .223 in charcoal gray or olive drab.

You actually don't need to use your conventional oven. Since it only requires about 120 degrees, lots of guys are making small cinder block boxes and heating with a heat gun. I'll probably go this route when I try the stuff.

Montana great job, i don't know if i would be able to take any of mine apart and paint em but they sure look great with the right idea and paint scheme.

BSA, the 17 came out great but i have to admit the -06 is hard to beat! The only thing that could make the -06 look better is having the hustler in the background!lol

Oh hell...I thought you were talking about the paint job on the gun!!!

Seriously, I guess I'm just an old goat as I prefer the look of a great walnut stock, blued metal and the traditional look of a classic bolt action. My elk rifle is a custom commercial mauser with a ss shilen match barrel and a Bell & Carlson composite stock. It is the only one that I own that is not traditional styling. I love it and it shoots great, but still looks a bit odd to me!!!
