I would hold out for a 3rd or 4th season tag, that's what I'm doing with the 5 points that I have now. With the 2016 season dates being favorable point creep will be a problem for a lot of areas. The other thing to consider is a lot of elk seasons are open at the same time which can greatly affect your hunt. Good luck!

Or you can use all the elk hunters to your advantage. They are usually happy to tell you where they are seeing deer as well.

Packmule. We did notice quite a few cattle. Thought this was normal since it was the first time we been there. We must not know what we are doing then. It wasn't from lack of effort though, we trained for months and hunted hard. That's hunting though. It's too bad it kinda put a bad taste in my mouth for Colorado muleys. I still got 4 days in south dakota next week to try to stick one though:)
Cows will make a place tough to hunt. There's sure a lot of yearlings they put on that range. Get behind them when they're driving them down the road and it can tie up quite a bit of time. It's a sight a lot of us from the East don't get to see much anymore.
