I am interested primarily in Coues deer, but also interested in mule deer as well. As I understand AZ hunting, most if not all archery is OTC tags. Are there any non resident OTC rifle licenses typically available?

Are all units open to the OTC tags or is there a specific list?

I have been scouring AZ Game & Fish webpage regarding OTC hunting, but haven't gotten much information.
If somebody could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Mainly interested in the December/January time frame, as thats when most of the deer hunting is done here in the midwest.

1. Not ALL of the state is OTC for archery hunts. Units north of the Grand Canyon (12A & B and 13 A & B) and a few others south of the ditch (3, etc.) are on the draw basis only......and are never open in Dec/Jan. There are NO OTC rifle or muzzy tags offered in AZ......general and muzzy tags are issued under the draw process only.

2. No, not all units are open to OTC archery tags. In general, the desert units (central AZ-south) are open in either December, January, or both. Some mountain units are open in August/September........but not open in December/January. Check the regulations to confirm which specific units are open and when.

3. Not too difficult to find hunting regulations on the AZ G&F website. Their websites is one of the better ones, IMO. Look at page 41 & 42 on the link below.

Loveland, CO. was AZ.
Agreed with Bohntr, it's pretty easy to locate and look in G&F regs to find which units are open for non-permit archery only for deer. Have a look and make your choice. Good luck..

I as well are wanting some info on the OTC tag, I know about the units and the seasons, I'm looking to get my tag for the January 2016 'hunt and I'd like to know where I can purchase the tag and if I can get it before January for 2016.
I don't see where I can purchase it on the website.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

When you come out, you can stop in any G&F office, or go to sportsman's warehouse or just Walmart and get the OTC tag.

The OTC tag is good from January to December, if you purchase it now for December you will have to purchase it again for January 2016, if you purchase it in January 2016 you can hunt all 3 seasons, check the regs for the units that are open as not all units are open and not all the open units aren't open for all 3 seasons. Also Google search it, there is some good info online explaining open units by seasons.

Hope this helps

I'm gettin ready for a weekend backpack trip for opening weekend in Dec. Still trying for my first deer after chasing these grey ghosts for a couple years. I missed this guy the last weekend of the Aug/Sept hunt... [emoji30]

Thanks for the info and good luck on your backpack hunt!!
Thanks! I'm just about done packing... Had to re-do my pack since the weather forecast is calling for a slight chance of rain. Had to add the rain gear and an extra jacket just in case!
