2016 wyoming antelope planning, first trip west

Hello everybody, I'm planning my first trip out west next year for a antelope hunt/family vacation. I bought my preference point and am looking at hunting the walk in land in unit 7 or 27. Has anyone had expierence there, im looking at coming the 2nd week to avoid the crowd and gonna hopefully hunt there a few days then go over to south dakota and do some sight seeing with the wife for a few days. What's your thoughts for the area, looking at staying in newcastle while I'm hunting. Thanks in advance, josh.

I cant help you specifically with those units but talk with the game warden and biologists for the unit. They are usually pretty good guys and will help you with herd quality, private/public land issues, etc. Also get the gps chip and a map that shows public land. They will be invaluable.

Thanks plan on getting the chips and all the maps.. I've also spoke with the game warden and biologist in the area and they have me some advice and also advised to call back in late winter to see how the winter is going and hunting season and they should have some more accurate info.

I'd want to scout at least 1 full day before the opening day...

I've had my best luck opening day/first few days.

I'd also schedule 3-4 days, just in case the first couple days don't come together, especially the more people going/hunting. Basically come up with a plan and maybe add a day.
