Then you were banking on some middle aged bucks to pull through, some did, now you're basically looking for the fawns from back then. Didn't see many until '10.

They are predicting a early winter so I think you will be good. I hope there right as I have a 2nd season tag for 67 this yr. Everything seems to be leading up to a fantastic fall in that area with plenty of moisture, early winter, and good rebound from the 08 kill off. Of course it is still hunting so I'm trying not to be too optimistic;-). Good luck.

I'm hoping their predictions are right with an early winter. I'll be chasing deer during second season and early snow would be great.

My plan before the draw was to hunt 67, not knowing if I could draw 66 this year. I bought a couple special 67 maps and did a lot of studying. At the last moment before the draw, I went with 66, thinking some guys would hold out until next years later season dates.

I'm with you, these next 6 weeks need to hurry up. I'm rely excited about the hunt and can't wait to get up in that part of Colorado. Hoping I get tag out early and get a few days of great fly fishing in.

Good luck! Hope you kill the buck of your dreams!

Thanks packmule! Ridn9high- I already have a hunt plan but out of curiosity which part of the unit did your research lead you? Not asking for specifics. Don't feel like you have to tell me anything either.

With the amount of tags out there and the amount of quality deer, a warm season that has the deer not moving a whole lot isn't a bad thing. Cover a lot of ground and be slow and methodical about picking apart pockets of cover. It'll amaze you what people miss in spots that have been looked at 100 times for a few seconds through a sec of binos.

I agree 100%. I had to do that on a Wyoming hunt a few years ago. The first 3 days were in the upper 80's and sitting behind the glass to find the bucks in the thick stuff paid off. The deer weren't moving much and we had to look in areas that were hard to get to and sit on them before daylight, before the deer made their way to bed.

But I'm still hoping for a little snow on the ground :D

Hello Gentlemen. Does anyone have information on the 3rd rifle season for unit 66? My Dad and I have 12 PP each which puts us in the running for a 3rd season draw possibly next year. We don't have the ability to put in scouting time and will likely need a guide, but would prefer a drop camp versus fully guided if possible (basically to save money). Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys! Happy hunting!
