Check out the deer unit map on the game and fish website it will show you the units in a region, there are a few different units you can hunt with a region b general tag. Not sure about area 10 I guess maybe someone else with know. Not sure how it works depends when they changed it I suppose.

So it sounds like there might be a difference between a Region B tag and an Area 10 specific tag maybe? Probably just need to call G&F anyways, but figured I'd check here first.

Read your license and see what hunt area it is valid for. Is it an area 10 type 1 or area 10 type 3 or area 10 type 8? Then look up the season for your license. It appears that area 10 is limited quota and a general tag would be invalid for that area.

Usually if it's an area specific like 10 it's limited quota. Region B would be a general tag, with a 10 tag you could probably only hunt 10, and it's probably a different season date from the general B tag. If it's new you may want to check to be sure though.

Yeah I thought 9/1 was odd too. I bought a leftover tag in July I think, whatever date they became first available.

Reading the link you posted again i would say this change took place before the draw and it is just a reminder to general season hunters that the unit is no longer open to them. You should have nothing to worry about since you bought a leftover LE tag for that specific unit.

if the tag was purchased as a leftover it is likely area 10 type 3 whitetail only there were not any leftover type 1 any deer

I have a unit 10 type 1 tag. It became limited quota back before the draw. I'm guessing G&F is just making it abundantly clear that it's limited quota to keep the Region B guys out. And as stated, you must be talking about a type 3 tag since a type 1 tag had no leftovers.

If the OP has a type 3 tag, I believe that it's good for a number of units since it's a whitetail doe tag.

We'll be there second week of Oct, eyes peeled. Any suggestions on public land? Have a few state spots and blm picked out around Lance Creek, but always open to hear from local eyes. Thanks again for all the input on the tag.

What tags do you have in addition to the 10-8 tag? We'll be hunting the 3rd -10th. I'm no local, but have hunted various units in this area 3 times in the past 5 years. I don't know how much help I'd be when it comes to suggesting spots. It seems to me that any of the public ground can hold game. Some of it more antelope terrain, some of it canyon type mule deer terrain.
