Massive Elk Herd

I thought I would share a couple with everyone taken on 9/4/15. The ranch that the elk are on has an estimated 4000+ elk, so this is just a small sampling of the elk herd. Also, this ranch, the NBar, is again trying to trade a large landlocked section of public ground in the center of the ranch for some other property they own. The timbered mountain in the background of the last video is the public land they want. Even though the land is not accessible by driving you can fly a plane into it to hunt, and needless to say it is pretty good hunting. I still cant believe that nothing has been done on what the private landowner did to the public land when they put their fence in. Going on a year now and last I saw it was still under "investigation"

some of these land owners just piss me off. owning land is awesome, when it comes to land locking public land, that should just be illegal. those will never change as much as I wish it would. money speaks and this dude has some serious mullah. on my trail cam I have a video of a landowner waving a no trespassing sign in front of my cam how he seen the cam idk. but he was more than 50 yrds into public land, and he has marked at least 100 trees orange and with signs on blm land as of 2 weeks ago. it was him on video, I know what he looks like, it wasn't another hunter or hired help, it was him. I may take video in for legal action to take place. this shit gets so old.

Yes now that would really pi$$ me off, if I was 100% sure I was on public land. That's not cool.

Not cool at all. Sounds like he has taken things too far. We have that kind of stuff around here. If you even look at their land, their feathers get ruffled. I hope you turn him in and justice gets served.

Yep, you can get 3 or 4 guys and split the Heli cost. You could also get a plane ride in cheaper I am sure but you have to worry about the runway not being blocked as someone camped on it last year with a camper.

I was offered a ride into it this year with a fixed wing plane for $100. The guys I know here that have planes don't have their commercial licenses so I think there is some sort of rule they can't hire their services out. I am not very sure how it works though.

Im not trying to plan a hunt there. I was just curious what it would cost and if it was a realistic hunt for the average diy hunter.

It would just be fuel cost that I would pay for. It is a friend of mine who flies in there a lot every year. I would probably hunt for a week to try and give myself a couple day window to get picked up. I am just not sure I really feel like being stuck in one spot, especially if the Nbar boys are patrolling a lot to try and keep the elk on their place. I would be going crazy if this happened.

With that being said, the average diy hunter could very feasibly find a pilot to fly them in and out for a reasonable price. The helicopter option works good if you have a group of guys that can split the cost.

Wow I just read the whole 28 pages of this and what a circus this is!! Looks like BLM is continually turning the other cheek on this. The very office that is supposed to be working for the states taxpayers that pay their salaries. What a mess.
