There also was another buck with this one also in velvet. Strange that you saw another one in velvet int he same area too.

I had a friend talk to a guide not to far away form where we were and he saw 6 different stags during the season. He said the the buck froze thier testies during the cold winter. Dont know if its true but it could be possible.

There could be a genetic predisposition in regards to producing testicular defects in your target deer herd; probably a more viable reason than "freezing."
It could verry well be predisposition within the heard. But this is the first year that i have noticed it in the 5 years hunting this piece of ground. That was just a theory that I had heard.
Really? That actually makes some sense to me. I always thought that a deer loosing their boys due to a fight seemed to be pretty far fetched although I'm sure it does happen.
Poor bucks! That part on Joe Dirt were the dogs nuts are stuck to the porch was the first thing to come to mind! I guess we need to spray their beds with PAM.
Saw another small velvet buck this morning but a few miles away from were the others were. Hmmmmm
