I've only met a few Wyoming wardens, generally at Western Association of Fish and Wildlife meetings. They were great guys and very professional.
To stray off topic a little; do you all see a bunch of Alaska "Reality Shows" on T.V.? We have a bunch of them. I'll watch the trooper show sometimes because I know a few of the guys on it, but beyond that, NO WAY. I sure hope folks don't watch those shows or at least don't believe that they represent what it's like up here. They don't!

I watched the first episode of the "Wyoming" wardens show. All they showed was G&F wardens issuing trespass tickets. How riveting. Next thing they'll be following a Meter Maid around while she issues tickets, but they already have a "Parking Wars" show.

First let me say that I also hope this doesn't turn into a Montana kind of thing. However I did have the distinct pleasure of speaking to a warden in 2013 south of Ten Sleep, I believe his first name was Tom. He could not possibly have been more pleasant nor professional. He was on the track of some guys who were in violation of an HMA access rules, but still took time to talk with us, and to clear us up on several issues we had questions on. He was great.
Secondly to AKaviator, yes I have seen all the Alaska 'reality' shows and my wife and I have a farming background and we laugh our butts off at some of what we see, and also at the 'off the grid' bunch. I do however really enjoy the Ultimate Survivor series, that one looks pretty real.

I have a good friend who is in one of those reality shows. He says the Joke amongst Alaskans isn't "Do you have a reality show?" it is "which reality show do you have?"

I am a little ashamed to say that I kindof like those Alaksan Reality shows. Mostly just for the entertainment. Its good to hear that they don't represent what its like up there. Sometimes those kindof things can make a stereotype or something. The Wyoming wardens show will probably make a stereotype of the typical Wyominite. Kindof like the COPs shows, people will start to think that everyone in Wyoming wears a wifebeater and has no teeth. Or like that 90% er story, that Wyominites go around wearing nothing but long underwear, no pants, untied boots, and flannel shirts. Probably not too awful far from the truth at my house, but I try not to be hunting that way.

I'd like to see them bust an oilfield crew that poached a buck on winter range.

The two deer were illegally shot near Buckskin Crossing, off the Lander Cut-Off road southeast of Pinedale, on November 12, 2012. Wyoming Game and Fish Warden Duane Kerr was on patrol as part of the annual mule deer winter range task force and discovered the head-less, and partially processed, carcass of a mule deer within hours of the deer being killed. Subsequent investigation revealed a second deer had been shot and left in the same area.

The case was made after items of trash from both crime scenes, including a can of Copenhagen chewing tobacco and a can of Monster energy drink, were found to have been purchased from the Boulder Store on the morning the deer were poached. Analysis of receipt transactions confirmed that both of these items were purchased from two young men in a tan Dodge truck, which matched a description of a truck in the area, according to witnesses. The men were identified from video surveillance and transaction history information. A search of the two individual’s homes in Gillette and Moorcroft revealed a severed deer head and two quarters of deer discarded into a ravine at Mulcare’s residence.

The two men were subsequently apprehended at a gas field “man camp” near Big Piney, at which time a search of the suspect’s truck revealed a set of deer antlers and the .223 rifle used in the crime. The Wyoming Game & Fish Wildlife Forensic Laboratory in Laramie matched blood, hair and tissue DNA samples from the field to the suspect’s truck, the suspect’s house and the recovered deer antlers. Additionally, the Division of Criminal Investigation’s Crime Lab matched ballistic samples from the field and the abandoned deer carcass to the suspect’s gun.

I've had good contact with game wardens in my state. I just wish there was more of them. I was very impressed with the check stations over by Laramie. Every time I went out there was a check station. But when I was deer hunting over by Rock Springs I didn't see a game and fish employee in ten days of hunting. And that area is a hot bed for poaching.

Just for clarification that long underwear guy in the 90%er thread was NOT a Wyoming resident, and I did not intend to infer that he was. He was defintely a NR in serious vacation mode. I should have made that more clear.

These shows are a joke and encourage wardens to act like a holes. Remember the Montana elk hunter incident that was discussed on here about a month ago regarding the guy that was screwed over by a Warden filming a show. How about these guys worry about doing their job they are paid to do by tax payer money instead of filming a show!

Thanks, I was just kidding. It was a funny story, so I went back to the well. I didn't mean to say that it was a Wyoming deal either. Sorry for the issues there.

I have also had only good experiences with Wyoming wardens. Sometimes they make me nervous when I get checked, just 'cause I am that way. It does help that they are often your neighbor, or you know their kid from school and stuff like that. Pretty good guys. Its a pretty competitive field to get into I think, so they kindof get the cream of the crop a lot of times.
