Putting in for Elk, antelope, deer, and moose. For my daughter and myself. Then bison on top of that just for me.

For Wyo Sheep, that log jam starting at 15 points just doesn't seem to go down. Going into the 2011 there were 494 applicants in that "points group" and going into 2015 draw there are still 417.

Going into 2015 there are combined 371 points holders (16 to 20 points) and took ave of 60 tags last two years... Looking at several more years before that levy breaks at this year's "15 points" group.

That is why I put in for a lesser unit and drew sheep with 14 points last year. Worked right till I got sick, but WY gave me the approval to hunt the tag in 15. Very lucky and thankful to WY. I just figured the math was against being able to hunt a "good" unit anytime soon. Wanted something better than MT unlimited hunts while young enough to enjoy it for bighorn. Still apply to several other states for "good" hunts so it made sense to me as a strategy. I was starting to chafe at the points cost for sheep/moose/etc. as well. My 2 cents.

Wyoming application season is open. Who is putting in for what?! My brother and I are finally cashing in max elk points for area 24 special. Anyone else looking to make their dreams a reality?
All the elk in 24 Migrated to Ferris…….. just trying to help PH  (wink)
Good luck, we'll talk more if drawn! I'm at zero now, perhaps I should have waited since I'll likely be unemployed by then and could hunt the entire archery season instead of the last 4 days!

Bend, Orygun
Sheep/Goats/ etc may be going to a 10% NR quota. You fellas better draw while you can.

The legislation has support.

Correct me if I'm wrong - the current allocation is 25% of sheep tags for NR (?).
That is correct. 25% of sheep, mt goat and moose go to NR. There has been a push to the last few years to lower this percentage because it takes a resident more points to draw moose and sheep tags than NR.

Son and I are gonna try for Type 1 elk in Bighorns with 5pts. Chances are slim. Younger son applying for cow tag as a first option so we should at least be going hunting this year. Love WY!

This year will take some careful thought. After applying all over for 20 years I have piles of points everywhere. I should draw the UT Pauns bow deer tag with 18. Also a 50/50 chance at AZ 1 bow elk with 13. So have no idea if I should burn my WY deer points. Elk I burned two years ago so will just be in random pool only but I will pick a unit and apply.
