This is a heck of a list! Thank you for sharing. I will be doing a backpack hunt the 1st of October for the first time for elk this fall. I have taken a couple of scouting trips to test out my gear and narrow down what I need from what I think I need. Our lists match up pretty close but I noticed you didn't list your meals out. What do you take in for say a 5 day trip?
Here you go. Here is the daily food pack list sample meal. things might vary some for each day but the calorie count comes out about the same which is about 3000-3300 calories per day. I weighed the packs and they weigh in at a average of 1.8lbs per day pack. I go in for seven days at a time and never have much left after seven days. Last year I stretched it 8 days before heading back to the truck and getting more food.I figure 14lbs for 7 days.
Breakfast
OvaEasy eggs 210
oatmeal 160
1oz honey in oatmeal 100
Hot Chocolate 90
Coffee 0

Mid morning snack
Trail mix split 1/2 morning 1/2 afternoon 600
Peanut butter one serving 240
Gatoraid mix 130
Honey Stinger energy bar 190

Lunch
Tuna two servings x 150= 300
Milk 80
HoneyStinger Waffle 160

Afternoon Snack
Energy bar 190
Energy gel(Flavored Honey) 100
Gatoraid mix 130

Dinner
Mt House 1 Serving 210
Honey Stinger Waffle 160
Olive oil 1oz to put in Mt House Meal 250

Total Calories 3300

I must admit I also take a few grouse for some camp meat!!

Daily meals

Packed up in dry bags to hang and ready to go.

I up graded last year to Seek Outside's BCS and large titanium stove ( no more jet boil). Great quality in this set up, no regrets. My sleep system is a Mountain Hardware bag in a Tigoat bivy. I use this set up year round and it works well for me.

Those of you using the jetboil or similar stoves do you prefer them to a snow peak giga or optimus crux? Have a msr whisperlite and want to go simpler if that is possible with less hassle.

Did you happen to pick up an optimus crux? I bought a Primus Express w/ piezo but haven't used it yet, thinking on returning it in favor of the more compact and more efficient/higher output Optimus Crux Lite.
