Late season cow hunts

Hunted for the last couple of years in area 96 but it has been pretty tough sledding for me. Poor timing of snow to push elk down and the season ending in mid November haven't really been kind to me. I live in Rock Springs and I'm a teacher/coach so it's hard to get a lot of time off during the normal seasons but something over Thanksgiving or Christmas break would work out really well. I have been looking at some of the units over by Kemmer and up toward Star Valley but would like some input. I'm looking for a meat hunt as I just want to put a cow in the freezer and my daughter turns 12 in a year so I want to learn the area so I could take her when she is old enough. If you don't want to put info up here please PM me.

Woodtick thank you for reaching out! I understand people being hesitant to share info but that's what this forum is for. I have done it on here with other people via PM and I have never felt like I have been "burned". I live in Rock Springs so if anybody wants info for around here please hit me up! If I can help you out I sure will!

I hunted in 102 a couple of years ago. We saw plenty of cows during the week. With some snow, I wouldn't think it would be too hard to catch up with a herd of cows.

Good job, tick, you look tired in last pic lol
Yeah just a little, hiking up that mountain practically two times in knee to waist deep snow tuckered me out!

Good work! I'll bet that was a fun one to pack out.
Luckily there was a trail in the bottom, I hiked out got my duck hunting sled that works great this time of year for hauling out elk. Quartered her out, drop them in the sleigh, slipped over the cargo net and clipped the rope to my pack and off we go!! If it's a good trail or packed snow a guy can pull a whole elk out by himself!
