If you could only buy one right now, would you go with binoculars or spotting scope?

I'm with BigSurArcher and Hilltop. Use a tripod for your binoculars, it makes a huge difference.

And, always buy used if you can find it in like new or nearly new condition for less. My conscience won't let me spend the extra to buy new if I can get it in excellent shape used.

Look at CameralandNY and SWFA. I've bought god optics from both and been very happy. Then, if you want to trade up later, you're not out much money if any.

I don't think you would ever want to trade your god optics; sounds dangerous!
