I'm looking at getting a new pair of boots in the next week or to. Has anyone used either of these brands if so what do you think of them and what would you recommend. Thanks

i've got two pair of Zamberlans and love them. most of my hunting involves a 3-4 miles hike each way up the mtn and back down. i also use them for backpacking in the summer. they are a little heavy compared to cheaper boots and rigid but ive never had a single problem with them even on 30 mile hikes.

Try out multipal boots. The best ones for you are the ones that fit you best. Don't get stuck on one brand. If your looking for a high end boot try as many high ends boots as you can then let your feet choose.

As mentioned above everyone's feet are a little different. A lot of guys rave about Kennetreks. I tried a pair of Kennetreks and felt like I was on stilts (thick soles that were impossible to be quiet and stable on steep, rocky slopes). If you are looking for a tallish boot you may want to consider Lowa Tibets. You likely won't find many bad reviews on the Tibets. My favorite boot that is a little lighter and more flexible is the Scarpa Kailash. I've used them on 3 Alaska and many other trips and they've never let me down. You can likely get them for a great price with a 20 to 30% off coupon code at Sierra Trading Post. I pretty much buy all my boots at STP. I usually buy $200 to $300+ boots for around $100...and can buy 2 pairs for the price of 1 elsewhere.

I know a lot of guys like lighter weight boots that have thin flexible soles but we hunt in a lot of very rocky areas and I don't want to feel every rock that I step on, I also like the ankle support that heavy all leather boots give you.

I've worn kenetrek for years and will continue to do so. ..I have their pac boots /mountain extreme 400s/ and mountain guide models.. I wear them for hunting and work. .when I was a guide I lived in them, and now as a helicopter power lineman I use them everyday. I've already put in over 130+ full days in my mountain guides since I got them in may. .and they still look new! There are some great boot companies out there, and I'll put my kenetreks up against them all

I have to agree. With all the Kenetrek haters out there I was a little nervous when I got my Mountain Guides. I broke them in during spring turkey season and have worn them on two elk hunts already this year. I've not been disappointed! I'm sure Zamberlan has some good boots too. It really comes down to your personal comfort and preferences. Everyone's feet are different. What works for one may not be the best choice for another...

Not sure when you need them by, but the last couple of years Kenetrek has had a pre Christmas sale, last year it was 20% off your entire order. Also they may be the only high end boot that can be resoled. (Not positive on that for other boot makers). The Kenetrek's break in about 50 miles or so!! I used to wear Meindl's and loved them but wore out the soles each year. Good luck and God bless
