Looking at getting a pair of Zamberlan boots sometime this summer. For those of you that use them, what model do you have or have used in the past and what are some positives and negatives? Thanks

I just bought a pair yesterday. T hey are the 980 Outfitter GTX RR. I put my first coat of Obenauf's on them last night and may put another on tonight and let that soak in. Then i plan on breaking them in this spring and summer, i can give you updates on how they are doing later on if you want?

You bet, i wouldn't of spent quite as much as these were but i won a 200 dollar gift card from Sportsmans Wearhouse last fall in the bucks and bulls contest so i only paid 189 out of the 389 price tag! Good deal for me!

I have the Sherpa top boot, took a long time to get them broke in, like months. I have heal issues with stiff boots apparently.

1012 vioz. I love them. Easy to break in. 3 hard years and still waterproof. I bought mine from Diggs outdoors in Medford, Oregon. They also have an online store and have some great deals. I will buy another pair of Zambis in the future.

960 GTX RR Guide Boot from Zamberlan by far the best boot I have had...took four years to come across it two years ago with my foot problems and had no issues during breaking and is just an all around great boot! I have a second pair and will buy a third pair once I come across a great deal just in case they discontinue the line for some reason!

I honestly don't know...with my foot problem I don't pay all that much attention to size other than I can run an size ten to twelve depending on makers! I would guess they may run a little small since their 12 fit me perfect!

Took the Zambi's out on their maiden voyage this morning! 2.75 miles on the bike path by the river. Boots felt pretty good, a little stiff for the first mile, but felt like they loosened up a bit and got more comfortable as i got done. I just had on a pair of cotton socks so i could feel some spots that started to get a little hot from rubbing but by the time i got home i couldn't notice it anymore. I know it's just the boot breaking in. I think i will get me some thin wool socks to wear in them and maybe go buy some of those SuperFeet insoles the boot sales lady told me most people get and recommend to put in the boots. I'm still getting used to the way the heel hits before most of the rest of the boot, the lady told me about that and says it was designed that way for stability and the bodies natural way we walk. Plus she said it will help with heavy loads on un-even terrain. But so far so good, these are definately gonna be a colder weather boot with the insulation they have. It was probably 40-45 degrees out this morning and i could feel my feet getting hot from walking. But my feet are always warm when i'm moving. I will update more when i can.

Ya i think i will do a few more bike path walks with them and then hit some of the hills around here when they get a little more broken in. Am i the only one who doesn't like to get new boots dirty so i actually watch where i step just until i get the first scratches on them or mud caked on them? After that it's game on and i don't care. HAHA. I was like that with my truck when i bought it new. As soon as the first good scratch and rock chips got on it, you wouldn't believe what i have driven my truck through after that. Just waiting for that first scuff on my boots!

I have a pair of Dakotas I picked up 5 years ago or so. No real complaints about the boots, but I would agree that they run a tad small (at least they did 5 years ago).

I also have the Sherpa Pro (Gore-tex) hunting boot ($300). First off, I could never get the heel cup to soften or shape to my foot, extra pairs of good socks solved the issue or moleskin, payne in the Axx. After 2 season they started to leak where the mesh meets the leather (both sides both boots), right at the toe bend crease. Contacted Zamberlan direct, told me out of warranty and suggested send to cobbler. I have two weeks before my next hunt...how long does it take to break in a full leather boot? Too long...I'm screwed. I'm now shopping other manufacturers.
