I havent dropped the hammer on ANY forkie in the last 25 years, ANYWHERE! If I spent 3 years worth of bonus points to persue forkies, trust me, I wont be back! A forkie passed this year, is next years 3pt, and so on. Im kind of a weirdo about DFG agencies, I wont give my $$$$ to an agency/state, not "capable" of having trophy "potential" available. Makes for a very short list.

I couldn't agree more IKIC...........The south east corner has turned into a throw away unit.

That is the area we have hunted for years for elk. No more. Stopped 2 years ago because of the poor hunting. I wouldn't want to know how it is now. I will try it again in a few years.

Getting hard to pass up forkies in Ca. D zones lately. Unless we are hunting your honey hole Boss ... My lips are sealed. ;) I totaly agree if out of state, especially the with the price of non res. tags. I have done it a couple times on the last evening of the last day of season just so I could bring home some meat. Long drive for nothing but that's just me.

Last year they recommended increasing tags and they decreased them. This year they go crazy and double to triple tags in most units. Seems like a weird philosophy. However I drew a late season unit 6 tag so I will have a much better opinion come November.

I don't know what the bio's are thinking... based on several friends I know who live in the eastern part of the state, whom hunt VERY hard... The herds are down... from what I have actually seen for myself... It's not a good thing for the deer but great for revenue if that says anything. Elk seem to be thriving though on the other hand.
