Looking at burning my points and drawing 75 in the special draw. I've scouted the unit and liked what I saw. Does anyone have experience hunting this unit? My only concern is I will be hunting the very last 3-5 days of season. if its how it was in '19 I'll be working in Wyoming and that's the time frame I have. In past experience, I've enjoyed hunting late season antelope because it seems like the hunters are gone and the antelope kind of settle back in. Any inpit would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I've hunted 75 quite a few times. The only downside I know of is there is quite a bit of private land in the unit, and a lot of it does not participate in the walk-in program. I hunt a different unit now just to the south of 75.

In the last 20 years, I have hunted after the opening weekend (most at the end of Sept just before deer opener) and love it. As you say, almost no other hunters!

Thanks for the feedback! You think 2-3 days is plenty to fill a goat tag with a decent buck?

Depends on what's your definition of "decent". You should never have a problem getting a mid 70's buck. Look at the post in this classification about this years success. It's post #13 and there are several pictures of the 3 bucks we took and we did it in 2 days, but we aren't too picky. We hunted the last 2 days in September (29 & 30).

I hunted it a few years ago. Undecided on whether or not I’ll hunt it again. Not sure how good your chances are of shooting a big buck, but I was there the last week of the season, hunted for about 5 days, literally never saw another hunter.
Shoot me a pm, I’ll share what I can.

I have hunted the unit in the past and considering doing it this year with my 13YO son, Tags have doubled since last time I was in there, so not sure what that looks like for pressure earlier in the season, your dates you should see next to no one.

What line of work brings you to WY smack dab in the middle of big game hunting season? That's a sweet gig, esp with time built-in to hunt; I'm jealous! 😆

After ten years in law enforcement getting my butt handed to me physically and mentally, I woke up one day and said "screw this...I'm gonna find a job that lets me hunt alot!" Took a year of working for free as a really good prostaffer for a few hunting manufacturers and I lucked into a great job. I get to travel the country in fall training store employees on our products. Luckily, I have several big accounts out west that bring me out there....and October is a great time to train employees before the holidays! I'm three years into this job now and couldn't be more thankful! As an old fella in North Carolina once told me- "If you want it, find a way to go do it." There's lots of opportunity

That's pretty cool. I've known some guys that work oil/gas production; on the odd occasion, they've been able to build in a western hunting trip with work travel. Was just curious.
