Hey guys, looking for someone who has hunted area 30 lately for elk or knows the area well? Im a Midwest whitetail guy and have been waiting for a long time for a good draw like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations MN,

Being a new guy on this board myself, my advice would be to ease your way in by stopping by the New Member Intro board and introduce yourself. It's amazing how helpful some of the "old guys" on here can be once they get to know you.

I have a friend that guides there. I wanted to draw that Unit but was in the 7 point pool, 1 shy of max, and thought it may be several years to get that tag. He says its a great hunt, good bull numbers, and if I remember right it had fairly easy/good access. I will try to ask him for any pointers I might be able to add. Good luck. I am new to this sight also and have not had a great response to my plea for help with my unit 45 elk tag.

Hi MN,
Hunted Area 30 in 2011 with a cow tag. Very EASY ACCESS and can drive all over the place with either vehicle or quad. Has rolling hills with good visibility. In nine days of hunting saw one small bull and no cows. The friends I hunted with drew Area 31, for a cow, also. While they were hunting 31, we spotted a group of cows with a spike along the Area 31-30 border. Stalked them but was not successful. After having shot at one and missed, the herd went down into the bottom a ravine and up the other side to a flat noll about a mile away. As we drove away, we saw a sight that was unbeliveable..........over one hundred elk were standing on that distant hillside!!! Drove over to the area but was too late. Area 30 has them but they were hard to find. Good luck you'll have fun!!!!
