Are there good numbers of Mulies in B? We are planning a Antelope hunt in the area and saw B was an easy deer draw. I know public access is limited but didn't know if the numbers were there. Not looking for a giant...just another tag to buy !!! :D;)

***No, the overall deer hunting in B sucks other than on a few of the ranches and a few public spots that you need to have inside information on and even then it's really a hit and miss deal. Don't waste the $312 NR fee!!! If the Biologist and/or Warden you talk with tells you much different it's probably just to sell tags, but most of them are pretty up front that the overall deer hunting for mulies in Region B is pretty poor. I was there in 2010 and would never go back and I continue to hunt on the west side of the BigHorns every year like I have most years since 1992.

You might be able to do some type of bird hunting, but the only elk in that whole area is in the Rochelle Hills area between Hwy 450 and the Cheyenne River. I don't think they issue any cow permits for that small herd, but not positive. If I were you, I'd just concentrate on spending all your time taking some pronghorn and not shoot the first one you see.

The boys both did well on Deer and Antelope. All in 5 days hunting.
30-06 is correct, the deer are down but coming back as we saw several but only a few trophies.
if you are willing to walk and I mean 5-6 miles from the truck there is no reason you wont get an opportunity if you do your home work and find places that require walking to get there. Better have a GPS as SNS leases most of the private Land and as GPS will keep them and you straight. Best of luck
Please feel free to PM me for more info

I've been lurking for a while but this seemed like a good place for my first post. I would say that there are some nice deer in B but as stated above, you have to work for them. This guy was 2.5 miles from the truck and he had two buddies with him. They aren't where you'd think they'd be but they are there if you want to work your butt off for them. I hunted this piece of public ground for two days in the wind and rain to get him. I am a NR and had not scouted ahead of time. I just burned a lot of boot leather, moved slow, and glasses until I had rings under my eyes.

I hunted Region B for several years. The last time I was in the area was 2005 on a unit #7 antelope. The last time I hunted deer was in 2003. We always filled our tags. But I know it has went downhill in the last 10 years. If you get a tag PM me & I can tell ya what I know.

***It's gone downhill enough the last few years that the entire Region is now antlered deer only and unit 10 where I was a big share of the time in 2010 is now also under a 3 point antler restriction too. That should tell you something about that entire part of the state as far as potential if you're going out for the first time or don't know someone that has a honey hole or two that they're willing to give up.

There is alot better tags to draw for sure! The only reason we ever bought the deer tags is because we were already there for antelope.
