Ok guys help me out and rank the general deer units from best to worst in order for me. Going to throw my name in and see if I get lucky next year.

There will be the annual Mule Deer issue coming punt in the next few months. The MRS will have everything you will need. You can take a look at your last years and see what was good to bad for Wyoming.
If you have digital you should be able to look there too.

Good luck

Every one says G and H which are good but I’d do some research in others as well. I know of 180”+ bucks killed in not so popular regions and terrain is a lot milder!!! I’m resident so I just hunt same area year after year, sometimes it produces big and sometimes not. Good luck in the draws and hope your research gets ya into a good buck of your likings!!

Big deer can be found everywhere. Best to worst is so subjective, what are you looking for in the hunt? Do you want to backpack in or do you want to hunt from a basecamp? Finally what do you think you want for trophy quality?

Base camp hunt. I just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on the units from best to worst? I have 1 point but hey a guy might get lucky. What units are guys with 10 points holding out for? I've never been mule deer hunting before and just looking for a place to start my research.

Look for areas with a later season, end of Oct. for better chance at a bigger buck.
Have friends applying so don't want to affect their draw odds with public posts.

I guess if you are hoping to draw with one point, the list of areas to look at is a lot shorter.
I hope to get back to Wyoming for a deer hunt in 2019-2020.
I'm still on the learning curve myself, about Wyoming deer units. But I plan to hunt the same general area for deer that I hunted this fall. I hope to draw an elk tag in the same area eventually also.
Hunting the same area a few years for deer and elk will hopefully help me learn it quickly. At least quicker than if I only hunted it once every 4-5 years for elk only.
I plan to try to figure the elk out in the area while I'm after muleys on my next trip.

I'm starting to rack up points just now for Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. I will be doing an antelope hunt in 18 or 19 regardless on Wyoming cuz I heard it's awesome and easy to get the tag

Some of the biggest deer I've seen were in units that would likely occupy the bottom slot of many general unit rankings. And I have been in region H during the famed mule deer migration when there are big bucks everywhere.

The only 100% sure 200+" mule deer I've ever seen was in a general unit that a NR can draw with 0 points. I didn't see another buck over 160 the rest of the time I was there. Of course I only had an antelope tag in my pocket.

I bet you'll be back there next year with the right tag.
