I'll be driving from Illinois to Greybull, Wyoming October 12th for the elk rifle opener on October 15th this year. I plan on taking I-90 to Ranchester, Wyoming then getting on Rt. 14 to Greybull. What are the chances that Rt. 14 will be closed due to weather the first part of October?

Anythings possible, but I've driven across much later. Just got to watch the weather, may want to bookmark the Wyoming dot road closer website on your phone so you can check it as you drive out.

Yeah, I agree. Maybe rock slides or something to watch out for. There have been some mudsliding issues around the state this past couple of years also. 14A I think just reopened this last weekend if I heard that right, that is the one that is usually seasonally closed. If 14 does close, 16 from Buffalo across to Ten Sleep is usually open unless its really bad weather. If nothing else you could stay on I-90 to Billings and go down to Greybull from there. That is kindof Wyoming's banana belt I would say, so there are some options if the Big Horns get hammered.

I honestly wouldn't even put this into the realm of possibilities. I have traveled from cody to Sheridan countless times in the dead of winter and have never ever had a problem. sometimes I had to go slow because of white out conditions but never been stopped.
