Hey folks,

Still doing research on possible hunt areas this year for antelope. Thanks to those who have given me a lot of information and insight into Wyoming antelope hunting.

Anyone have any experience or information about Wyoming antelope hunting area 50 and/or the Pass Creek Basin HMA?

Any info will be appreciated.

I have never hunted this area but I did do some online research. However, I really havent come to any conclusions yet. Unit 50 is sort of small and limited, a lot of the public land is forest service that doesnt look like it will hold many antelope.

I have never hunted a HMA before, I assume if it offers antelope hunting it should have some huntable animals, but I am not sure how hard it is to draw these HMA permits.

Most of the antelope country appears to be private in that unit, but I honestly do not know for sure.

Are you planning to rifle hunt it?

You need to call Eastmans' (800) 842-6887 to get a copy of the latest Eastmans' Hunting Journal with the WY deer and antelope statistics. It's by far the best resource for what you are trying to do.

According to Eastmans', there are only 14 areas you can draw with no preference points in WY, and 5 more if you want to pay up to be in the special draw. Area 50 is one you would have to draw in the special draw and that runs your tag cost up to $566.

Nearly all of the areas you can draw with no points have problems with accessing public land. Call WY G&F (307) 777-4600 to get a landowner list for whichever region you are thinking about. Then start making calls to ranchers. Nearly all will charge you a trespass fee.

Upon doing further research, we have decided to hunt a different area than 50. G&F folks provided a lot of good info about the area....negatives and positives.

Appreciate everyone's input though.
