WY unit 7?

Warning, lengthy post ahead haha

I’ve been talking to some folks at the game and fish, comparing draw odds, and am looking to try for this unit in the special draw with my dad. I realize there’s less access than some other units but it still looks alright, I’m pretty used to hunting scattered smaller parcels. Have not been able to find a county public road map as I don’t wanna take any risks with private roads. Hopefully they’re marked well, but would be nice to know where I can go from the start.

Any insight on going opening day with more guys out versus hunting last few days with less competition?

Plan to have 3.5 days of hunt time. Not looking for B & C bucks... any decent buck will likely get the nod. Dad has hunted antelope before, I have not.

Any insight on unit 7 that I may not hear from local biologists etc.Tried to do most of the leg work on my own that I could.

If you work hard and plan you can make a good hunt in about any unit. Just a note the Western boundary is a River not a road. looks like a special tag should have you in the field hunting.

Kind of echoing what go_deep said, I think they cut a good number of tags from last year. Might what to consider that when you’re trying to figure out if you can draw it this year.

My son and I hunted this unit in 2018. We seen a good amount of decent bucks. My son was having a little problem shooting straight but ended up getting the job done. The Walk in areas had a lot of hunting pressure. We moved to some of the smaller pockets of National Grassland and were pretty much all by ourselves and found a lot of antelope. I am still contemplating taking my daughter to this unit next fall.

Big winter kill there spring 2019. Hunting is a lot tougher now than in 2018.
