(maybe this is a better thread for WY MRS?-but here we go 😆)

Seeking general info on anyone's recent hunt experiences within the last 5 years and any documented winter kills they might be aware of in the WY elk areas in and around these ranges. I am not looking yet for that trophy bull, this will be a type 6 or 7 cow hunt. Some of the areas: (11, 12, 13, 15, 110). PM me if preferred.

Thanks! 😉

Thanks for the info! 😉

I'm looking at some of the earlier October cow hunts all across the board, with the idea of getting in the woods earlier and beating the Oct 15 general tag rifle hunters. There's a number of areas all across WY that have this earlier cow tag option in areas with what looks like decent public access. That's my gameplan.

Solid plan...good luck.

Be aware that you're looking at the tentative dates...nothing will be finalized until the April 20-21 commission meeting.

Bad part about the early NR elk draw, the final season setting and quotas are not done until end of April.

I hear ya; all of us flat landers are in the same boat that way. 😆

Looking forward to coming out this summer to check out whatever area I end up pulling. Hopefully do some fishing and camping with the kids.

I hunted 11 with a cow tag a couple years back. Problem there is that deer opens the 1st as well, so there were camps everywhere and hunters all along the roads. However, I never did see another hunter on foot, and had a great hunt. Into elk every day.

Copy on the deer season-We expect to hike in a good ways wherever we end up drawing. Is it worth trying for a doe mulie at the same time as the elk, if the tags are not impossible to get down there/or even exist?

Pretty hard getting a doe tag... I am not sure. But I doubt they offer any down that way... Good luck on the draw. Get of the road and U will find elk... Wife and I drew sum cow tags down there last year... And had our cows down first day... Shot from the same heard... Made for a long day... But well worth it.....

Yeah. I took a quick look and nothing jumped out at me as far a doe mulie tag over in that country during that time. A general deer tag looked possible, but I'm on budget so will prob go as cheap as I can with just whatever cow tag I hopefully get. If I pull a tag, I might be bugging folks for trout stream ideas in the area for a summer camping/scouting trip.
