"This news is exciting for California,” Fish and Wildlife Director Charlton Bonham said in a prepared statement.

I'm not sure exciting is the right word. Wolves will end up costing the California Fish and Wildlife a ton of revenue from hunting license fees when the state has no animals left to hunt.

Lots of animals left to hunt......if you are a wolf or lion.......the ones who protected you are now fair game!:(

Dimes to doughnuts says our own fish and game secretly transplanted them...
When the name was changed from DFG to DFW, the handwriting was on the wall. For years the dept. has refused to acknowledge the existence of Whitetails in some of the counties along the Oregon border, but it jumped on the wolf bandwagon right away. If you subscribe to the SSS theory in CA, don't forget to use a no lead bullet!

It would not surprise me a bit. I am told they secretly released some cats where I used to live down there. We never had them before and now they are showing up on trail cameras pretty regular.

Cali is a lost cause. They had protections for wolves before wolves were there. Imagine how quickly that little pack in Shasta will grow in size. My fear is that the sierras will be next down near Reno/Tahoe. There goes the trophy bucks of the Mt. Rose tags.

My local guide buddies in the fishing world have already reported wolf sightings but F&G denies. They watch coyotes, bears, bobcats and bucks every day. They can tell between a little coyote and a wolf.... FYI this is in the Truckie area. They have been telling me for over two years now.

Washington is not much better. When federal protection was lifted in eastern WA our great F&W immediately put state protection on them..... One of the district reps from NE WA actually introduced a bill to capture all the wolves in eastern WA and relocate them to western WA where all the wolf/tree/bunny hugers that want wolves live. It didnt get anywhere but I give the guy alot of credit for it!

If so can we request that they release them closer to L.A. instead of Northern California. That way maybe they will eat some of those vegans.
That is the funny thing, the majority on the west live in one of the big major cities and spend no time near wildlife yet make all the decisions for rural communities.
