Has anyone seen whitetail around Colorado Springs to Pueblo on the WEST side of I-25? (i.e. units 59 or 84). Any information would be appreciated. There are some new whitetail-only tags in those units this year, and I still need to get a Colorado whitetail for my bucket list. Thanks!

That close to populated area, most of that land will be already spoken for. It will be pretty hard to find anyone who will let you hunt although you never know. Nobody likes shooting whitetail does ( the ones who have the babies) and this is why they have a problem with whitetails overpopulating and pushing some mulies out. Local landowners don't want you shooting does because they repopulate the bucks, which is what sells! Good luck!

I've seen some off 115 around fort carson. Never any bucks though. Like BKC said, will be difficult to find somewhere to hunt. You can hunt on carson. Not sure it would be that good for whitetails though? I saw three whitetail does just off I25 south of the springs last night!

Thanks for the responses. I did some more checking and it looks like the CPW is trying to flood those units with whitetail-only tags in hopes of cutting off the spread of whitetails into mulie country. I got caught up in the same kind of thing a few years ago when they where wanting to take out pockets of elk in mule deer country around Parachute. They had a ton of elk tags available which brought in a lot of hunters, but in reality there were just a few elk in the area and everyone went home empty handed. I think I will have to look further east to find a better spot for whitetail. Thanks again!

There are whitetails up the Arkansas River, west of Pueblo. Seen some up near Beulah as well. Have seen them 30 miles West of Trinidad and some near Williams Fork res.
